South Suffolk
The South Suffolk was developed in New Zealand from Suffolk and Southdown. The are a full bodied animal with a dark brown muzzle and short to medium length fine "downs" type wool. The breed are
- A good meat sheep,
- Are easy breed to manage,
- Ewes are very maternal, with no problems lambing,
- Rams are easy to handle, very fertile,
- Twins are common with triplets not unknown.
South Suffolks are an older breed, very popular with hobby farmers and schools.
